More Updates

Well, everybody...I know most of you have been getting updates delivered directly to your e-mail inbox. However, there are certain things that only a visit to the actual site will allow you to experience.

We've been busy in the Carrington household updating our page so that we might keep things fresh and new. As a result, we have re-designed the entire page with a whole new look that has a much more "familyish" feel to it.

Disneyland '08 - Part VI

At last we have arrived at Day Three! Though it will still take me two days to post it.

Our third day at Disneyland started out with our "Breakfast with the Characters" at the Disneyland Hotel, just outside the park. We walked over to Goofy's Kitchen where we would have brunch as various characters came and visited our table for pictures, hugs, high-fives and all that.

Disneyland '08 - Part V

Welcome back!

Today, we continue where we left off before Christmas with the latter half of day two at Disneyland. It's almost embarrassing when I think about the fact that this trip was about four weeks ago and I'm still only on day two! Kinda pathetic, really.

Disneyland '08 - Part IV

Finally! Back to Disneyland! I know you've all been waiting and waiting for more pictures and pretty much anything at all newer than just the first day there.

Well, today, I'm happy to announce that your fondest wishes have been granted. At least, that is the case if your fondest wish was to see a new post of more Disneyland pictures on the Carrington Family Blog. If your wish was something else, what can I say? Sorry to disappoint. Hopefully, you'll at least find some amount of pleasure in these pictures.

Grandma's Toddler Christmas Tree

Once again, going out of chronological order to bring you more Thanksgiving weekend pictures after posting Disneyland pictures and before posting more Disneyland pictures. I'm not sure I'm going to get over this. I can hear the guys in the white coats approaching!

Rather than dwell on my future in a cozy room with nice, soft walls, subtle mood lighting and a steady flow of heavy meds, we'll just continue on with the pictures. I figure that's probably why you're here anyway. So, without further ado...

Thanksgiving Weekend Visitors

We had some visitors from Tucson over the Thanksgiving weekend. William and Darcy had come up to spend Thanksgiving with Aunt Caroline, Jana and Grandpa Tug. While they were in town, they stopped over at Billie's so we got to see them while they were here.

Along with the kids....

Thanksgiving Day

So, although this is way out of chronological order, and I'll probably need therapy as a result, here are some of the pictures from Thanksgiving Day. Good food, family, fun. Everything that a Thanksgiving Day is supposed to have!

So, let's get started with the pictures, shall we?.

Disneyland '08 - Part III

And now, here we are at the second half of Day One!

After going through "It's a Small World" and walking around Toon Town, getting pictures taken with various characters and such, we headed over to some rides. As we went into Storybook Village, one of the first rides we saw was the Dumbo ride. Kyle seemed interested in it...until it started going around and he saw how high Dumbo was flying. After that, he was content to watch.

The Next Big-Boy Step!

We interrupt this stream of posts and pictures of Disneyland to bring you this special, up-to-the-moment (or at least within 24 hours) report....
Kyle went pee-pee on the potty for the very first time tonight!

He is getting to be such a big boy!

Anyway, thought you might like to know. :-)

Disneyland '08 - Part II

Welcome to Part II of the Disneyland '08 trip!

We are finally bringing you some much anticipated pictures of the shortest member of our household. There were quite a few pictures to choose from, so I took great pains to sift through them all to bring you the ones that I thought best represented our trip. (You may now experience feelings of sympathy for my plight...NOT!)

Disneyland '08 - Part I

Just to make this ever more painful for those who are awaiting these pictures, giving a shout out to the old Heinz ketchup commercials and their little "Anticipation" jingle, this will be the first installment of pictures of our 2008 Disneyland vacation.

Because of the quantity of pictures, I thought it would be best to break this up into various sections of the trip so as to keep the size of posts to a minimum. Also, against my nature, I am beginning to post these pictures before even posting the Thanksgiving pictures which, I can assure you, is mentally and emotionally taxing for me. My somewhat obsessive-compulsive tendencies in this area are causing me fits that these are not being posted in chronological order.

Toddler's Time-Out

I just thought that I had to post this. It amazes me that this kiddo is just so darn cute....even when he's in trouble!!

Getting Behind

Yes, I know I'm getting behind. You're probably wondering where the pictures are from Thanksgiving. I'm going to have quite a bit of posting to do in the near future.

So, to give you a teaser... I will have not only pictures from Thanksgiving, but also pictures from the day after Thanksgiving when Aunt Caroline, Grandpa Tug, William and Darcy and Elizabeth and Elijah came to visit and hang out.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day, don't eat too much and spend some time reflecting on what you're thankful for (even if you don't share it with everyone).

As for me, there is a great deal to be thankful for, as is usually the case. It's a great day to think about those things and to keep things in their proper perspective.

Rest in Peace

I didn't get a chance to know Maria Mateus very well. But the times that I did get to meet her, she could only be described as an exceedingly sweet woman. I know that my brother, David, was very lucky to have her as a mother-in-law.

It was just a few days ago when I got an e-mail from my brother informing friends and family of Maria's unexpected passing. More information about her services can be found here.

No More Cribs for Little Boys

It was a big day for Kyle as he made the step from his crib to his new toddler bed. Of course, as you can see, there were certain factors that made this transition much easier...like the fact that it was a Thomas the Tank Engine bed!

Kyle was VERY excited and could not help Daddy quickly enough to get his new bed built and set up. I guess when you are getting a bed THIS cool, there is never any time to waste!

Busy Bodies with Nate and Grandma

Kyle went with Grandma and his cousin Nathan to Busy Bodies the other day. Looks like the boys had quite a bit of fun together...for the most part. :-)

The Polar Express

Here are some fun pictures that we got when we took the boys (Nathan and Kyle) on the Polar Express in Williams, AZ. Everyone had a great time!

Enjoy the photos!

Halloween Pictures

Finally! Here are some of the pics we got of Kyle on Halloween...

First, we (we = Daddy) carved our pumpkin!

Another Toddler Update

It was a rough week for the wee one. Somehow, Kyle ended up developing something called "stomatitis." So, he had himself a really difficult few days.

The highest his fever got was about 104.5 (which kinda freaked Mommy and Daddy out just a bit). This happened, of course, in the wee hours of the morning. So, poor Kyle was thrown into the bathtub too try to cool him down. It was awful watching him shivering like crazy and crying because he was sooo cold.

Fireproof

Friday night, Joelle and I went to see the movie "Fireproof." Both of us thought that the movie was really good. I would highly recommend people go to see it. But before you go to see it, there are a few things that some people may need to be aware of before going.

This movie is the third release from Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA. This being the case, for those of you who are unchurched, don't be shocked that this movie has a heavy dose of Christianity and is not at all subtle in references to Christ, God, prayer, scriptures, Christian values, etc. Some people, if you're not prepared for that sort of thing, may feel that this movie is "too preachy."

Happy Birthday, Joelle!

Yes, I know that I'm a couple days early with this. Technically it's not until Monday. But we're sort of starting to celebrate her birthday tonight with a trip to the movies to see "Fireproof." So, I thought I'd just go ahead and get this posted now.

It's been over three years that we've been married, now. My beautiful bride is just 32 years young and just as lovely as ever! Not only am I glad that she's my wife, but I'm very thankful that she is my little boy's mommy!

10/21/2005

Today is the anniversary of the passing of Dennis Keith Walmer.

It has been officially three years since he lost his battle with cancer. So many things have happened in all our lives since that day. There are many times when those who knew and loved Dennis wish that he could have been here with us to watch Kyle and Nathan grow up.

Toddler Update

Well, we haven't been to any more concerts or shows or anything like that. But it's been a couple weeks now since the last post, so I figured I'd at least put something up here about our favorite two-year-old.

I'm not really certain about how "terrible" the "terrible-twos" generally are, so it is difficult to determine if Kyle is a typical two-year-old or not. He certainly has his moments, but usually these seem to be when he is hungry or tired. Otherwise, we rarely see occurrences of "terrible" behavior.

First Dentist Appointment

Kyle went to his first dentist appointment yesterday. He actually didn't do too bad. While he wasn't a picture of 100% cooperation, by any means, he did much better than I figured he would on his first visit.

When we first got there, Mommy checked him in and Daddy took him into the "waiting area" which has a couple of X-Boxes, a 42" LCD screen with the Disney channel playing (though they were both turned off at the time we arrived). They also have a two-story castle that kids can run around and climb and play on. When we got there, Kyle had the whole thing all to himself!

Playhouse Disney Live

So, last night we (Mommy, Daddy & Grandma) took Kyle to Playhouse Disney Live.

We all met at Grandma's house around 5:00pm to have pizza and get over to US Airways Arena. Upon arrival at Grandma's, I was told that Kyle had only napped for 15 minutes that day. Not a good way to start!

Pictures Posted...Finally!

Well, we finally got some pictures posted of Kyle's second birthday party.

Check out the slideshow over to the right and enjoy!

Kyle's Birthday Party

I know. I know. This was a week ago and I'm just now posting on it.

Sorry to disappoint, but I also don't have any of the pictures from it yet, either. So I'll be posting a slideshow in the near future so everyone can see pictures from the day. We also took a good deal of video, so hopefully I can get some of that up here as well.

Happy Birthday Kyle!

We've reached the big day! Kyle is officially two years old!

We had such a fun morning.

Grammy came into town last night and spent the night with us. Then this morning, Grammy, Mommy, Daddy and Kyle piled into the van and went to pick up Grandma and cousin Nathan. We all drove out to Scottsdale to go to the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.

It Goes By Fast!

It seems like it was only 20 minutes ago that we were working with Kyle on learning to sit up on his own. Now, he's off and running...walking, talking, jumping, climbing, singing, dancing, playing drums, etc.

The other day, he was even drinking water out of a regular cup (not a sippy cup) and actually drank more than half of it before he inevitably dumped the remainder all over his shirt and the floor. :-)

Crazy how quickly time moves on. At the current rate, it'll seem like only a few days and we'll be going though his options for what college to attend! It's almost hard to even think of how he looked when we were still doing "tummy time" on his play mat.

*Whew* Late Night!!

Well, last night was a very, very late night. :-(

Kyle woke up at about 11:30 last night crying. This escalated into all-out screaming!! He was so far gone he didn't want us to touch him or be near him. If we tried to hold him to calm him down, he would kick, scream, hit, push, yell "NO!" and squirm his way out until he was away from us. Then he just stood there and cried.

Kyle Turns 2!

Well, Kyle is soon to turn the big 2.0!

Preparations are underway for his party. Of course, the theme of the party could not be anything other than Thomas the Tank Engine. This child is absolutely obsessed with Thomas and Friends.

Mommy has been working very hard to make this a really great party. She has been finding so much great stuff for decorations, rented an Elmo jumper (they didn't have Thomas), and found all the balloons, invitations, plates, napkins, goody-bag stuff....you name it, she's found it!
