Toddler Update

Well, we haven't been to any more concerts or shows or anything like that. But it's been a couple weeks now since the last post, so I figured I'd at least put something up here about our favorite two-year-old.

I'm not really certain about how "terrible" the "terrible-twos" generally are, so it is difficult to determine if Kyle is a typical two-year-old or not. He certainly has his moments, but usually these seem to be when he is hungry or tired. Otherwise, we rarely see occurrences of "terrible" behavior.

Mostly, Kyle is a source for a great deal of laughing! The things he says and does just keep us laughing hysterically a good deal of the time. Like this morning when we were leaving and he went to kiss Mommy good-bye. Mommy blew him a kiss, but that wasn't good enough. He pouted a bit and told Mommy, "No, Mommy. Kiss on the face!"

The other night, as we were coming home from my company party, Joelle went to bring our babysitter home and on her way back saw a little dog wandering around on the rode. So, we brought the dog in, put him in our backyard with some water and then the next day saw some signs up about him being missing.

Kyle had already started thinking that he had a new puppy! Of course, we had to explain to him that we were not keeping the dog, but we were trying to find his mommy and daddy so he could go back home. Later, he kept going to the window to look out in the yard and asking where the dog went. Not to worry...Pop-Pop will be bringing Lissie back to stay with us in January. (Joelle and I would have preferred this other dog. He was much quieter and less active than Lissie.)

Apart from his general comic relief and the short-lived dog incident, not much has been going on with Kyle out of the ordinary, daily toddler stuff. He's still obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine, still loves Little Einsteins, the Fox and the Hound and 101 Dalmatians and still talks our ears off. He's getting accustomed to time-outs and has "his corner" all picked out to stand in when he misbehaves. He continues to get better at saying "please" and "thank you." And, hopefully, it won't be long before he is ready to really start focusing on potty-training.

And for those who continually ask, "When are you having another one?", we aren't going down that road for at least another year or so.

I know...not much of a post. Certainly not one of the most interesting updates, anyway. But I didn't want to leave everyone hanging, wondering when they'd hear more about our little munchkin. So there you go. More interesting stuff is still to come, I assure you.

Hey, I'm only being honest. It's not that I don't think Lissie is adorable. She just barks and jumps...a lot. :-)
