The Latest Tadpole

Well, it's official. We have a tadpole!

I've been avoiding this topic on the blog during the last few weeks because this is generally the type of news that I prefer to share with most family and friends via phone call or in person when possible. However, there may be some out there to whom this will be news. If you are that person, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that I probably at least tried to call you and tell you about it before you learned about it this way.

That said, this morning we had our first official doctor's visit (we met with a nurse practitioner a few weeks ago, but not a doctor) and got our first images of the squiggly little life form whom we are, as of yet, uncertain if it's going to be perhaps a Matthew or a Laura depending on chromosomal combinations. It was nice to see the little staticy blips and flashes that indicated a nice strong heart beat. You can't really see that in this image, however, because...well...this is a still image. I know, I know. What about all the technology we have nowadays.

Actually, I had brought our Flip video camera with me, but decided at the last moment to not bring it to the doctor's office. We may do that one of these times when we're going for a more general appointment that Kyle can be present at. Who knows! For now, though, feel free to satisfy your baby-cravings with the first picture we have gotten so far before the little guy/gal starts sprouting arms and legs and such.
