Happy Thanksgiving

And what a Thanksgiving this will be! As we gather up the family and spend time together, we are eagerly awaiting baby Katie’s arrival. For a while, last weekend, we thought we might actually have been able to celebrate her having been born, but she decided to wait until after the holiday, it seems.

Nonetheless, a new baby, an adorable little boy, a new house, a beautiful wife, a loving family, a good job, a good church…the list goes on and on. And thank goodness we have days like today to help remind us to focus on those things instead of the other things.

It’s such a joy to know that we are so blessed, that with all the garbage and junk that we deal with, these things are always there for us to focus on…even when we forget to focus on them. While we are not so faithful to keep our focus, the nice thing is that God is always faithful. Even when so many things could be going wrong, God’s got it covered thanks to Jeremiah:

²² Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
²³ They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

We are not consumed by the trials because He is faithful and He is compassionate. Every day brings a new opportunity for Him to show us His mercy. What better way to show us His love than by surrounding us with love in the form of our families and friends!
