Sleepy Boy

After months and months (well, years really) of trying to figure out why Kyle just doesn’t not consistently sleep through the night, we finally got a bit desperate to figure it out before Kaitlyn arrives. It doesn’t happen every night. Some nights, he actually stays in bed all night. Most nights, he gets up once. Then…there are the really bad nights.

We figured that when Kaitlyn arrives, we’re not going to get much sleep anyway. However, if we have her and Kyle getting up throughout the night, we won’t get any sleep. This, we feel, would be a bad thing.

That being said, we took Kyle in for a sleep study so we could try to figure out why he wakes up at night so much. We were a little concerned going into this. I mean, try to imagine putting wires all over a three year old and then telling them to go to sleep. But, the nurse was great and she made a really good connection with Kyle so it worked out well.

We told him that the wires and such would give him super-powers. Plus, he got to pick which color wire got hooked up next. That helped. Plus, he got to watch Scooby-Doo while they hooked him up.

So, here’s what he looked like once they had him hooked up. It took a while to get him to sleep, but overall he did way better than we had anticipated.

He had his hand over his chin because they taped a small microphone there to detect if he snored while he slept. That didn’t go over too well, but everything else he sat through like a trooper. A tired trooper, but a trooper nonetheless. We were very proud of him.

Hopefully, they’ll find the key to getting him to sleep though the night consistently. Until then, we’re waiting on pins and needles.

TTFN!!
