Second Inning

Everyone got a chance to bat and run the bases. That puts the Bears back in the field. We’ve switched some things up, this time. Nate is positioned over at short stop (just like his mom) and Kyle is in right field.

Eventually, the first basemen (or, first basegirl) is pulled off the bag (I think a potty break was in order) and Kyle is moved in to cover for her. It started off pretty well, though by the end of the top of the second, Kyle was losing interest fast. Most of the kids were, I think.

Here are some of the shots from the field…

Ok. These pics need a bit more explanation. While a picture, they say, is worth 1,000 words, these really require just a bit more background to “get it.”

As I mentioned, Kyle was starting to lose interest and was just standing quite nonchalantly and not paying much attention to what was happening at home plate. The coach’s dad, who was the first base coach, came over and helped him get into the “ready” position. He moved Kyle’s legs apart for a good, wide stance and positioned his arms and hands at the ready.

Once put in this position, Kyle did not move a muscle while he stood there, like a statue, waiting for the ball to be hit. The batter was having some difficulty “connecting” and so this stance lasted for a good couple minutes. The entire time, Kyle did not move a muscle (hence my laughter in the second picture).

If it helps to get a good timeline of events, the time between the first and second picture was probably about a half a minute. Looking closely at the two, you may be able to notice that he has not moved at all! Too funny!
