Firefighter for a Day

It’s always great to have friends in the Fire Dept. when you’ve got kids. Especially when their station is nice and close to home. We got to take advantage of that recently. Well…Kyle did, anyway. He got to spend some time with our friend Matt at hi his station.

He got to climb up on the truck, on the ladder, in the bucket. He got to hear the alarm, which was less loud than we imagined, and got to hear one of the fans they use for certain jobs, which was much louder than we imagined.

Here are the pictures from his visit…

Let’s check out that ladder!

He didn’t really want to go up in the bucket, though. He decided it was too high.

Nice hat!

Here’s an axe. Try not to hurt yourself.

That thing is a bit heavy…when you’re only 37 lbs. yourself.

I think this may have been shortly after the very loud fan…judging by the look on his face that looks as though there are the remnants of abject terror.

Yeah, this is cool!

Got to go for a quick ride. He was actually a bit scared…what with no car seat. It was just out of the bay and then back in, but still…

Holding on for dear life!

That’s it! I can handle this rig. No problemo!

Time to relax. Anyone know where I can find a nice, big, comfy chair?
